10 Great Maths Activities

Here are 10 links for you to have a go at over the Summer Term. Try and do just one a day for about 20 minutes.

1. Got-It! This is a great game to try and beat the computer at. Try changing the total to achieve and see what happens. Can you work out how to win every time?

2. click here to have a go at this Multiples and factors game from the NRICH maths site.  Link numbers together from a hundred grid to make the longest combination possible; the rule is that they have to be factors or multiples of the previous number. I'll give a prize for anyone achieving over 40!! (and proving it!!)

3. Click here for a decimal ordering game

4. Click here for an estimating angles game. Click to start the pointer moving and click again to stop it at the required angle.

5. Probability Game Drag the balls to the correct location.

6. Square It  Great game to play against the computer.

7. Reflection and Transformation BBC revisewise game to improve shape and space knowledge.

8. Nim-7 You need seven counters or objects to play this game and one other person. There is also a link to other Nim-7 type games on this link

9. Problem Solving Game

10. Sudoku puzzles are great to quickly test your ability to think logically. Click here to have a go at a puzzle online  Share how you did!!

Leave a comment to let us know how you are getting on. Which is your favourite link?

Higher and Higher!

Year six were given a challenge in their DT lesson - to build the highest possible, free standing tower, possible using 7 sheets of card, 7 pieces of A4 paper, sellotape and scissors. To make things harder, they only had 30 minutes to complete the task AND they also had to design a poster advertising their tower!

Here are some pictures showing year six hard at work.

Snow Day

Hi everyone, it seems that the snow has got to us again! If you have some time, try clicking on this site:

http://www.thekidzpage.com/learninggames/logic_games/logic-game-petcenter.html

This is a logic puzzle like the ones we did in maths on Friday. See if you can solve it! If you can, there are loads more on there too.

Enjoy!

Mohammed and Nahid created these fantatsic pieces of work recently. Mohammed's landscape is from his imagination and Nahid has begun a story. If you have any special work you'd like showcased, then please bring it to your teacher or Mr McTaggart to put on the blog where possible.

Do you like these pieces of work?  If so, what do you like about them?

Snow Day . . .

Hi year six, I'm sure you know by now that the school is closed due to the snow. To keep you occupied, here are some things you might like to do:

1. Get your maths and English homework finished.

2. Test yourself on times tables.

3. Make sure that you know the months of the year, the order and how many days are in each.

4. Go onto google, type in Get Smart Maths 2, then choose a game or two to play.

Enjoy the snow! We will hopefully be back tomorrow.
